Forecasting & Accruals

PharmaMetrics has developed a system to assist pharmaceutical companies with more effectively and efficiently calculating the rebate exposure for their products.  The system is designed to take inputs directly from other modules within the PharmaLytics application and based on assumptions entered into the system calculate the expected rebate exposure by channel and Coverage Gap in future quarters.  The application incorporates historical processed claims to generate baseline assumptions and provides an intuitive user interface to change assumptions relating to key metrics such as WAC price changes, contract status (either new contracts or expiring ones) and terms (changes in rebate rates), CPIU changes and overall product flow through a specific account.

The system calculates the impact of these assumptions to produce estimated units, gross sales and rebate dollars and stores the resulting output as well as the underlying assumptions.  The final results are loaded into specific Rebate Accrual reports to allow for additional analysis and distribution to other internal departments.  The reporting creates aggregation by various metrics including channel, product and customer, providing deeper insight into the drivers of rebate exposure.

The system is designed to reduce the manual inputs needed to calculate rebate exposure levels while providing a data store of past scenarios and forecasts to easy reference in future quarters to determine how the assumptions matched to expectations.
